The importance of the 1st Amendment and the 1 for All Campaign
In the United States, everyone recognizes the importance of the First Amendment. And that is because every person is aware of the fact that the freedom of expression is a fundamental right that makes our lives easier and makes us think at the restrictions of speech we one had.
Even if we don’t figure it out, we are practicing this right in almost every thing we daily do, such as reading the newspaper, uploading files on the Internet or gathering with friends and chat online. The freedom of expression it should be more important as we know there still are some countries were there are some restrictions for speech.
The law is guaranteeing the freedom of speech for all people and in the same time the freedom of expression for the press, which has become an important actor on the politic and social stage, due to its important role of informing people about the events that happen around them and educating them in the same time, thanks to the amount of persons which have access to television, newspapers and Internet.
The 1st Amendment is yearly celebrated of 1st of July, by gathering artists, news organizations, educators and any other persons who want to support this campaign and to teach the Americans how they become the owners of these important freedoms.
This year, from 1st to 25th of July, every person could show to others how does he understands the freedom of speech, rock or assembling by mean of a 30 seconds video. The best videos will be featured on YouTube, TV and Newseum in Washington D.C.
The authorities are encouraging people to get involved in campaigns like this and to teach persons around them to enjoy their freedom of speech, because on the planet there are places there the freedom of expression is receiving more and more restriction limits, which is quite unpleasant in times when everyone should know his rights and be aware of the fact that this is a fundamental right that must be respected, being part of the human social condition.
