The Living Room – Center of the House
A living can be arranged in several ways. For some, this space is formal and perfect at all times, being used only for receiving guests. For others is where the whole family gets togetherto see a movie, to tell what was done each day and to receive guests. And for some people is an intimate space in which they withdraw for a snack and a good book.
In a classic dining room are emphasized the most important elements of the house - furniture, books, art objects, paintings, figurines, etc. The decor is mostly symmetrical: a sofa with a painting on the rear wall, framed by two armchairs, a table with a lamp, classic windows covered by curtains and rich, long draperies, suspended by a gallery and demanding solid objects, possibly a coffee table coffee and a library on the opposite side, where there can be found a television, books, figurines or crystals. Is rather a decorative room than a useful one, but few homes today still look that way.
The design style developed is currently promoting a less formal arrangement. While retaining the classic elements – like elegant furniture and quality materials – the modern living room is brighter and more comfortable. Symmetry is studied and there are softer lines, the old rules are broken and more color is added. Such a living expresses a certain nonchalance, freedom, that might surprise many. Besides furniture and accessories (carpet, paint, curtains) that must be in harmony, here are some other tips. Elections must be primarily practical. Choosing furniture and its layout is much less strict. More places to sit while watching TV are necessary, but a low table on which you can eat is also useful.
Whatever purpose the living room stands for, materials, colors, furniture and accessories must be exactly your taste and should combine the tastes and choices of all people living in the house.11
