According to articles in technewsdaily.com and cnet.com the prices for the Amazon Kindle will drop once again.

Users will have the possibility of purchasing the reader for the price of $114 which is $25 lower than the initial price. Even if the decrease in price does not seem too impressive, a $25 deduction is always welcomed. However, what you should know is the fact that this price decrease comes with a, well, price. For those $25, the users will be subjected to on-screen ads. The advertisements will be presented as screen savers and they will be constantly on the bottom of the screen. Amazon has lowered the price of its e-readers on numerous occasions before, but this has been the first time when they have introduced the ads. In case you were wondering, some of the ads you will probably see will be for Olay cosmetics, the Amazon.com Reward Visa Card, and Buick. The users will also be able to take advantage of the various ad deals which will be presented on the screen. For example they might be able to purchase gift cards from Amazon and from the other companies as well.

The new Kindle with built-in ads will be released on May 3. It looks exactly as the original one, and it can be purchased from numerous retail stores such as Best Buy and Target. The new Kindle is Wi-Fi only, just like the original version. Many have wondered why didn’t Amazon decrease the prices even further and it seems that the company isn’t willing to reduce the prices even more just yet. Russ Grandinetti, Amazon’s Vice President of Kindle Content, said that the company was pleased to reduce the price with $25, and the price reduction is enough for the moment. He believes that the sales of the Kindle devices will increase, as the ads will not bother the users. The new Kindle with special offers has been tested, and according to cnet.com, the ads are not extremely irritating. When the screensavers enter the screen, the user can simply press the home button in order to skip them.

However, the ads will be then located at the bottom of the screen, and according to some experts in the domain, they might be included in the books, sometimes in the future. That would sure ruin the experience of reading. Amazon is optimistic, and hopes that the new Kindle will please the customers instead of annoying them. Grandinetti believes that the people will be satisfied with the new Kindle, as they will be able to get it at a lower price, at the cost of having to see certain ads once in a while. The users will be able to vote for the ads they like the most, so at least they will have the possibility of controlling what appears on their screens. The ads which will receive the highest votes will then appear on the Kindle e-readers as screen savers.

The screen saver will not change at a certain number of minutes, but will remain on the screen until the e-reader will be turned off. Once it will be turned on again, the screen saver will change. In case you were wondering, the screen savers do not drain the battery. According to the experts, the users should know that the prices for the Kindle will drop even more thanks to the deals which Amazon will be able to make with the sponsors.  This means that if you want to purchase one, but you are not in a hurry, you should wait a certain amount of time, as you might benefit from a new price decrease. If the move will be successful, then it is likely that Amazon will start producing tablets in order to join the competition against Google and Apple. The new Kindle is the cheapest e-reader on the market; in comparison to the big names such as Barnes & Noble’s or Sony’s devices. Some of the experts have stated that the move might backfire, as the readers have the option of turning off their Wi-Fi, and then they will no longer receive the ads. It will be interesting to see the way in which things will work out.11
