Tons Of Fake Medicine Sized
Tons of fake medicine was found on Thursday trafficking in six East African nations, according to the latest news that were received from Interpol. Due to the 300 premises that were checked in six African regions – Uganda, Burundi, Kenya, Rwanda, Tanzania and Zanzibar, the police agency found more than 9 tons of counterfeit medicine.
There were all kind of medicine into this lot and they are known to have been sold for months now, until the police finally got the track of them. However, it was the third such seizure operation in as many years in the East Africa, as they intended to stop the manufacturing and as well the distribution of many such medical products. They caught counterfeit medicine such as anti – malaria drugs, vaccines and antibiotics. The catch was too big to not be taken into consideration.
Interpol and the other nation’s representatives are scheduled to be met in Zanzibar to discuss the extent of this issue and what further steps should be done into this. What is counterfeiting referring to? It is something that is done in order to imitate a better thing and therefore, to pass it eventually as being genuine. The main reason for which counterfeiting is practiced is the fact that they can actually sell the fake product that is done under costs, and sell it at the same price as an original product. This way, the people doing this will have a bigger profit, faster.
While counterfeiting products such as clothing, watches, electronics, brands etc is not a thing that will have a very bad impact on a person, rather than taking his money, counterfeiting drugs is more serious than one could begin to accept.
The World Health Organization defines the meaning of counterfeit drugs as “medicine, which is deliberately and fraudulently mislabeled with respect to identity and/or source.” As the drugs apart from having a lower production costs and being fake, they can as well contain some substances that they should not and therefore affect in a bad manner your health, being able even to cause your death.
The counterfeiting drug s market has been growing as the international boundaries are more opened and as well as the e-commerce has taken wings and everyone has access to it.
