Top 10 Killers of Man
Death is a part of life, and every living organism will have to face it at any certain moment. In what follows I am going to present you the greatest killers of men.
There are numerous tales about brave soldiers who have killed hundreds or thousands of people, but in most of the cases they are just fiction. The situation with Simo Hayha is different, as he really can be considered the greatest when it comes to killing enemy soldiers. He was nicknamed the “White Death”, and he struck fear into the heart of the enemies, being responsible with the killing of more than 800 soldiers.

He was a soldier in the Finnish Army during the Winter War between Finland and the Soviet Union. It has been confirmed that he has killed 505 people using his rifle, and other 37 soldiers which have not been confirmed. There are also 200 confirmed killings with the machine gun. You will see that he has killed very little people in comparison to the other entries from the list, but given the fact that he was a single person who managed to take so many lives he deserves a spot on the list. He stated that he does not feel remorse for what he did, as he did what he was asked to do.
The smallpox is the deadliest disease in the world, even if under the current circumstances it would seem that cancer or AIDS are the leaders. The earliest recording of a death caused by smallpox is considered to be a mummy which dated back to 1157 BC. Its body contained traces of the virus. It has been estimated that smallpox killed as many as 500 million people in the 20th century, even though if there are some that the numbers are closer to 300 million. Even 300 is an absurd amount of people. Just think about it, there are countries which have 10 or 20 million people, and the smallpox might have killed half of billion people.

Smallpox has a mortality rate of 35 percent, and it is very easily transmitted. Fortunately, smallpox is no longer a treat, as we have found a cure for it. However it needed to be mentioned just for the number of people it killed.
Pedro Alonso Lopez is the biggest serial killer in the world, and if you take a look at his story it is no wonder that he finally snapped. Of course, what he did is inexcusable, and very wrong. He was nicknamed “The monster of the Andes”, and this is his story. He was born to a 13 year old prostitute, and he was left in the care of a pedophile. He raped him numerous times until he was taken by an American family and placed into a school for orphans.

A teacher from that institute raped him numerous times, until he finally managed to escape. When he was 18 he got arrested, where once again he was gang-raped numerous times. He killed three of those people while he was in jail. When he was released he started the killings. It is said that he killed more than 100 girls by 1978. He then later confessed to other 300 killings. In 1994 he was placed into a mental institute, but he was released 4 years later in 1998. His whereabouts are currently unknown, and it is unknown if he is alive or dead.
It is said that religion is about peace, and that is true, but unfortunately in the search for peace, religion has proved to be the deadliest idea ever. It is without a doubt the idea which caused the most damage in the world. Just think about the Crusades and all the Holly War and so on. You would say that those events took place along time ago. Fine; then think about the terrorism which is said to be influenced by the Qur’an. Think about all the persecutions which took place because of religion, such as the burning of the witches, and so on.

If you think about it, many entries from this list might be associated with religion. In many cases the serial killers often said that God spoke with them, or some would say that a disease was a curse sent by God because of certain things, and so on. Billions of people have died because of religion, whether if it was caused by wars in the name of religions, or for reasons like the ones I already mentioned.
The flood from 1931 from China is the biggest natural disaster ever. It seems that the region is prone to suffering because of the natural disasters. For example the Great Chinese Famine of 1958-1961 killed between 15 million and 34 million people. Of course, the people died over the course of three years. The China flood from 1931 however killed the people over a very short period of time. Up to 4 million people died because of it, and it destroyed about 80 million homes.

As a result the Three Gorges Dam project was created, and it had the task of stopping this type of thing from happening again. The project was postponed because of some Soviet conflicts, and it was then stopped in 1980. They finally managed to finish it in 2009.
