Lady Gaga and Justin Bieber

YouTube will definitely be your first destination if you’re interested in watching the latest music videos, funny videos or if you’re simply interested in listening to a song while you’re doing something else. The leading video-sharing website allows users to upload, share and view any kind of video files. If you’re interested in a bit of history, the site was founded in February 2005 by three former PayPal employees, Chad Hurley, Steve Chen and Jawed Karim. It was bought by Google in November 2006 and now operates as a subsidiary of the search engine giant. Needless to say, everyone is very familiar with what YouTube is so it’s a pretty big deal if your video scores a lot of views on the site.

Before YouTube, most users didn’t really have a lot of options if they wanted to share videos with friends. What’s now Google’s video service has made everything simple. It also made it easy for any person who wants to buy a song (usually on sites with a limited preview time) to go listen to it first and then decide whether to pay money on it. Of course, YouTube was heavily criticized for not ensuring that all uploaded videos comply with the law of copyright. Despite being warned that they shouldn’t upload any kind of content without permission, unless consisting entirely of content they’ve created themselves, users will just go ahead and do what they want. There’s often a significant number of unauthorized clips of copyrighted material on the site just waiting to be spotted and taken down.

While we’ve talked enough about YouTube, it’s quite interesting to see what the most interesting, most viewed top ten videos of all time the site has to offer people. Let’s start with number ten.

#10
The happy, laughing baby

This particular video has been in the top ten for a long period of time. Currently it has 145,131,019 views but it seems to be going down in popularity. This child is actually, honestly delicious. His laugh is so enthusiastic that it’s impossible for people not to stare, get highly amused and think “god, this kid is so funny”.

It’s contagious to say the least. When I was younger I remember most fun TV shows aired clips of either animals or babies doing funny stuff. Those were the funniest clips around. This makes no exception and assuming you haven’t seen it so far, be sure to check it out.

Eminem – Not Afraid

Having gathered 146,116,608 views so far, it’s easy to say that Eminem’s video will definitely keep recording more hits and probably go a bit higher on this list in the following months. The song is part of the American rapper’s seventh studio album called Recovery. It was released on June 18, 2010 by Aftermath Entertainment and Shady Records. It was produced during the years 2009 and 2010 at multiple recording studios.

As soon as Recovery was released it went all the way to number one on the US Billboard 200 chart and sold 741,000 copies in the first week in the US. Because of this Eminem became the first artist in Soundscan history to come up with four albums that debuted with sales of over 700,000. “Not Afraid” is one song that received positive reviews from critics as well as the public.  It’s also the perfect song for this period of time when people aren’t as happy and motivated as they used to. I’ve personally listened to this every time I felt the need to build up a bit more courage and determination to face life.

Pitbull – I Know You Want Me (Calle Ocho)

The song by rapper Pitbull as released as the second single from a recently released album called REbelution. The title seems to be a reference to a Miami street called Calle Ocho. Pitbull premiered this track on Miami’s own Popular Radio Station Power 96. The clip was released in March 2009 and has become available on YouTube ever since then.

Up to this date it has 150,646,771 views. If we stop to think only about “electronic” music videos then this vid is the 3rd most viewed in history. However, the part of me that’s an electronic music fan can’t really accept this song as being a part of that genre. Guys might want to watch this strictly for the good looking ladies in the video. We’ve added a clip with a brief introduction of the artist in this article because on embedding is disabled on the clip version with a ton of views, but if you’re determined to see that one, here’s the link to it on YouTube.

Evolution of Dance – By Judson Laipply

As is mentioned on his website, there are two things US motivational speaker and comedian Judson Laipply aims to do. One is to make his audience laugh as hard as possible; the second is to make them think. In the past seven years, this exceptionally funny man has actually put all his passion into entertaining and educating audiences. In the spring of 2001, Judson performed for the first time in public the act that would make people laugh later on.

He mixed together 12 popular dance songs from the last 50 years or so and presented “The Evolution of Dance”. It took a while for a video of it to end up on YouTube. But when it did, it included 30 songs. In the months following its posting, the video became viral and was transmitted between users through various forms of communication (e-mail, Facebook, Twitter etc). Right now the video has 156,181,323 views. It’s just as fun to watch, over and over again. If you want to learn more about Judson Laipply, you can find his website right here.

Miley Cyrus – Party In The U.S.A.

Doesn’t matter who you are, what your age is or where you’re living, chances are you’ve heard of Miley Cyrus. The US actress and pop singer is best known for her role as Hannah Montana on the Disney Channel Sitcom with the same name. Cyrus who is currently 17 has recorded music for the soundtracks Hannah Montana and Honnah Montana 2/Meet Miley Cyrus.

It didn’t take long for her to establish herself as a teen idol like many others before her (or perhaps even more so). Those of us who grew up, whether we wanted to or not, with Britney Spears, Christina Aguillera and N’Sync can’t help but smile and understand every time we see a massive crowd of teenage fans wherever Miss Cyrus chooses to hold a concert. Much like the previously mentioned people, even Miley Cyrus has to grow up and turn into an interesting and attractive young lady.

The starlet started forming a completely different, more adult, image in 2009 when she released an album called The Time of Our Lives. This album also includes Miley’s best selling single and massive hit on YouTube Party in the USA that you’re so privileged to watch above. The video has so far recorded a whopping 171,138,391 views on YouTube showing us just how many fans Miss Cyrus really has out there. As an off-topic, I’ve noticed something. US teen idols aren’t necessarily blonde anymore.  Interesting..

This is bullshit, how in hell, this song ( Justin Bieber – Baby ft. Ludacris ) is the first ? It’s f*****g crap, garbage, my stereo was about to go dead when I hit play on that crap.

Are you sure you did a proper research for these videos ? I just don’t see how this is possible.

    Hey Razvan,
Sorry to disappoint you but the top is straight from YouTube. They have a “most viewed” section listing the most viewed videos of today, this week and all time. To be completely honest, i had nearly the same reaction as you ;) But if you’d like you can mention what video you think should be the first.
