In the previous years, numerous comic books have been turned into movies, and there is a big reason for that: money. This is not a recent trend, but it seems that the interest for turning into a comic book into the next great blockbuster is very high.

Probably one of the most successful movies based on a comic book character has been the Dark Knight. That movie brought something new, as it was one of the first movies who presented the comic book world into a darker and more realistic manner. The movie was directed by Christopher Nolan, the famous director who brought you movies such as Memento, The Prestige, Batman Begins, Insomnia, and the most recent one: Inception. Unlike other comic book movies where the action is highly exaggerated, reaching in some of the cases the state of ridicule, the two Batman movies directed by Nolan were different. As I said, these movies had realism, but one of the most important things about them was the villains. The first one had Scarecrow, the villain who uses toxic gases in order to make the victims have nightmarish visions, and Ra’s al Ghul. The second one had the Joker, played by Heath Ledger, who died before the movie was released, and who won the Academy Award for the Best Supporting Role in 2009 for that role. In what follows I am going to present you the top 10 Batman villains which might star in the third movie, which will be called The Dark Knight Rises.

#10
Professor Pyg

You might have never heard of this one, and the main reason for that would be the fact that he is a very recent character. Even if his name sounds very strange, I should tell you that he is a very interesting character. He wears a bloody butcher’s apron and a pig mask, and he likes to kidnap victims, to place a doll’s mask on them, and to lobotomize them. He taunts them a lot before performing this deed, and that makes things very disturbing.

One of the biggest issues related to the introduction of this character might be the fact that the movie is rated PG-13, and his deeds might not be introduced as they should be in such a movie. It is most likely that they will not change the rating of the movie, because then children would not be able to see it. He likes to punish everyone, and he has no limits, so seeing Batman hunting him down might be a joy. However, it is very likely that Nolan will not use him, as many people have no idea who he is.

#9
Clayface

I should tell you that Clayface is the only villain from this list which has a superpower. Nolan has not used so far a character with superpowers in his Batman movies, but this might be a start. The main power of this villain is the fact that he can turn into anyone, and he can create numerous weapons such as swords, hammers, and so on, from his body. He is similar to the character Mystique from the X-men franchise. There could be lots of ways in which this character could be used. For example he could try to ruin Batman by posing as him. He could release all the mad people from the Arkham Asylum by changing his body into the one of a security guard.

Of course, the decision of using him in the movie might be a complicated one, as it might backfire as it happened with the Sandman in Spider-Man 3. The character was exaggerated, and it wasn’t a real threat for the superhero. It is unlikely that it will be used in the movie, because it would reduce the realism a lot.

#8
Calculator

This character might not seem like a very huge threat, but he can be a very big problem for Batman. He decided to start a business, and his business was selling weapons for the ones who needed them. He sold them for a very expensive price. A good reason why he might be used in the movie is because he is very real. He is a hacker and he can hack almost anything, thus he can steal billions of dollars. Of course, seeing Batman track him might be kind of boring. Calculator might use his skills in order to find out the identity of our superhero, and that might be a very huge concern.

He might be used as a second villain, because being the main villain might make the movie too boring, as I already stated.

#7
Hush

Hush, Thomas Eliot is a very close friend of Bruce Wayne. Both of them came from very healthy families, the only difference being that Hush hated his parents and that he even tried to kill them being unsuccessful at it. He got mad when he saw that Bruce got “lucky” when his parents died. He got jealous on Bruce Wayne, and using his knowledge that he is Batman, he tries to make him suffer for it.

He often likes to play psychological tricks on Batman, using the fact that the two were best friends when they were children. This scenario could be used because it is very real. Batman tries not to fight with him, because he was his friend, even if that “friend” tries to destroy him.

#6
Mr. Zsasz

Mr. Zsasz is a very interesting villain, because he is very close to a real serial killer. In the comic books, every time he kills a person he cuts himself, so his body is full of scars, which should give you a clue that he has not been too nice. He is considered to be insane and he believes that he is doing the people a favor by killing them. His kills are very gruesome and they should come right in handy with the atmosphere of the movie.

Mr. Zsasz made an appearance in the first movie, as he was located in the Arkham Asylum, but he escaped. This might mean that he will make a reappearance as the second villain, or why not, as the main one?
