Top 13 Invasive Mammals
There are many animals which we do not consider to be a threat, as they are not in the position of putting us in danger. However, many of these animals which we consider offensive, such as the goats, rabbits, or deer, are real destructive for the nature. In what follows I am going to present you the worst invasive mammals.
The goats were first domesticated by the farmers from western Iran. That happened 10,000 years ago, and needles to say that the goat situation is a lot different nowadays. The goats can be found all over the world, and they are known for their durability. They can survive in almost any environment, regardless of the temperature and of the weather conditions. They have a stomach with four chambers, and because of that, they can consume any type of plant they want, and they do that, and this is the reason why they are considered to be amongst the most intrusive mammals. They were found even in some of the most remote islands, and of course, the biodiversity was destroyed because of them.

People started hunting them in the more recent years, by using hunting dogs, helicopters, GPS receivers, and so on. It seems that we will not be able to get rid of them anytime soon.
The red deer is hunted in many countries, and especially in the ones from Asia and South America, as they are considered to be a real trophy. These species came from Eurasia, but now they can be found in most of the parts of the world. The reason for that is the fact that they are not picky when it comes to choosing a place to live. They can live in most of the regions of the world, whether if the region is rainy, has mountains, fields, and so on. It seems that they prefer the regions created by the men, which are about to be used for agriculture, and they have all the reasons to prefer these ones. These regions are full of food which the red deer can consume without any troubles. They prefer to consume moist grasses and other types of plants as well, which in most of the cases leads to erosion. The other species from the area are in danger as well, as they do not have enough food to consume, and they are forced to live in more crowded spaces.

There are places in the world, which the red deer have inhabited, and these places have with 70 percent less vegetation than the other areas. In Argentina and Chile, the red deer competes for survival with the other species of deer, and it seems that they have all the chances of surviving. They have one natural predator, the puma, and because of that, the humans have to hunt the deer on their own.
The Long Tailed Macaque can be found in the regions of Southeast Asia, such as Mauritius, Palau, Hong Kong, and even in Indonesia. Needles to say, they have become a problem for many of the animals from that region, especially for the birds, as these macaques consume the same type of fruits which the birds consume. The macaques win in this confrontation, and they also like to consume the eggs of numerous species of birds which are in the threat of becoming extinct.

Luckily, they do not give birth to offspring very often; more precisely they give birth to one offspring once every two years. Even so, they have become a huge problem, and the scientists want to take care of them by making the females infertile.
The feral cats, or the domestic cats which have established themselves in the wild, are everywhere. In the United States of America alone there are 60 million feral cats, and in that country, they manage to kill about 480 million birds each year. The problem is that many of those birds are endangered, so they are in great risk because of the cats. The cats were first domesticated in the Mediterranean region, and that happened a very long time ago, when the human civilization started to flourish. Some say that the cats domesticated themselves, in the sense that they started living around the people, knowing that they are a way of obtaining food. They were much loved, as they protected the crops of the people, by killing the rats and the mice.

Many of the people use them as pets, but what is unknown is the fact that when they are left on their own outside the house, they can become a real threat for the environment. They do lots of hunting which can damage the equilibrium of the ecosystem, and they can carry all sorts of diseases as well.
Many of the have rabies, and most of them have toxoplasmosis, which is a parasite that can cause neural damage to many species of animals. They were responsible for the extinction of certain species of birds, lizards, and so on.
You have to admit that the short tailed weasel has a very cute appearance, but their destruction is matched by their looks. They can destroy the birds and the mammal populations, as they are very greedy. They will often attacks prey which are way larger than them, and they will bite more than they can chew. In most of the cases, they leave a certain portion of the prey behind, as they can no longer consume it. They are capable of swimming, and they are pretty excellent swimmers, as they can swim 40 miles in one setting. The weasel was introduced in certain regions in order to stop certain animals which have become a problem. For example, they were introduced in New Zealand in order to stop the rabbits, but they did not like the rabbits, so they started hunting other animals instead, most of which are not in the danger of becoming extinct.

They have extinct numerous species of birds in New Zealand, and they might be in the position of eliminating the kiwis, which is the iconic bird of the country. They like to consume the kiwi chicks, and the authorities have established numerous centers where they grow the kiwis, until they can protect themselves against this pest.
