More and more people are aware of the importance of climate changings so the most significant problem of the decade is environment itself with all its changes.
2. Climate changing
The most discussed problem regarding the environment nowadays seems to be the issue of global warming and, by extention, the whole climate changing.
3. Overpopulation
Between 1959 and 1999 the global population doubled as the natural resources started to shrink more and more. So it’s clearly a problem that should be taken into consideration really carefully, since 3 billion people were enough for the planet; not to mention now the over 6 billion. Yet, even the most optimistic forecasts predict that the world population will expand to 9 billion by 2040 which will lead to severe shortages of basic supplies such as food and water. Overpopulation is also to be considered responsible for collateral environmental problems like climate change, loss of wildlife habitat, deforestation and especially massive pollution.
4. Global Water Crisis
About one third of the world poplation is dealing with scarcity of fresh water.
According to a recent UN report, over 95% of the world’s cities still dump their raw sewage into their waters so it is clearly that we don’t even do a good job at preserving the only water resources we have left, not to mention developing new methods and fresh springs.
5. Big Oil and Big Coal versus Clean Energy
Thank God polluting industry materials like coals are not renewable so that engineers focused on creating alternative energy resources which not only are infinate, but are also green and don’t harm the environment by pollution or gas emissions which fasten the global warming.
Some other concerning issues to be recalled arealso the endangered species, nuclear energy, China and threats, food safety/ chemical contamination and also new pandemics or the so-called superbugs.11
