Organizers announced the launch of over 50 green cars in this city, pure electric cars, Hybrid and by continuing with “clean diesel”. Americans in general and Californians in particular, define themselves as the most “green” residents of the planet. Not incidentally, the current edition of the Los Angeles Auto Show cars is dominated by green. Organizers also announced more than 50 cars from pure electric cars, plug-in continental Hybrid and fuel cell or even to “clean diesel”. It is noteworthy that the U.S. diesel is seen as an eco solution, almost exotic. Despite efforts by many European manufacturers, the oil has not got hardly any, and the current strategy of repositioning the diesel is considered more pervasive.
Unquestionably, the big prize is called the Chevy Volt and Nissan LEAF. Volt is the first car “extended range” electric can easily go between 25 and 50 miles (80 km maximum), but with a range of 500 km, thanks to a gasoline engine which “spins” a generator that recharges the battery. Notably, the four wheels are essentially powered electric motor role being reserved exclusively classic battery regeneration. LEAF is purely electrically powered by a battery being charged for almost seven hours (220 V) or only 30-40 minutes if you find a fast-Recharge Station. Nissan has approved the autonomy of 175 km, an impressive distance for an EV (electric vehicle). The prices are: for VOLT $ 41,500 and nearly $39,000 for LEAF.
It is pretty funny how Arnold Schwarzenegger, known as a great fan of Hummer in the ’90s, now passed as a special eco governor of California located in the second term. Over 220,000 Americans have shown an interest in VOLT and General Electric has confirmed the premium paid for a fleet of 20,000 volts. After taking 20,000 orders, Nissan closed the list and begin deliveries in two weeks. In fact, here in L.A. everyone talks about the struggle between the two models at different competitions. Until now, VOLT has taken almost everything, and probably will do next is in pole position such as “North American Car of the Year”.
Other manufacturers are trying to make their way through the two leaders, Chevrolet and Nissan. The most surprising is Jaguar that imagined a supercar “plug in” electric with a range of 100 km and with two micro-turbines that produce a fast Recharge the battery still runs over 500 km. Moreover, C-X75 reaches 100 km / h in just 3.4 seconds and a top speed over 320 km / h. For a hybrid, the figures are downright spectacular. Although just a concept, micro technology is very promising. But nobody knows how long it will take to be industrialized.
From the show in L.A. concepts are not absent – there are 15 in number, where Nissan has something to say. ELLURE is a fresh interpretation of Seda-expiration, as a visual language inspired by Japanese tradition, but equipped with the most modern technologies. The Cadillac ULC (Urban Luxury Concept) is not bad as an exercise of style and urban premium proposal. California show is more successful in this release – even if some firms are missing, notably Tesla company in this state that produces only EV’s.
But that glow is not expected from a first class salon. Instead, the two stars of the show-Volt and LEAF – sold with the house closed. The show hosts world premieres of machinery – to say – classic. The most interesting is the premiere of the new Range Rover Evoque, a five-door Range Rover, a premium compact SUV with off-road capability, powerful, but can be configured for a 4×2 version.11
