Tropical storm Bonnie heading to the Gulf
Bobby Jindal, the Louisiana Governor, declared a state of emergency because Tropical Storm Bonnie is heading directly to the site of the Gulf Oil spill and will threaten the works done for securing the leak.
The BP officials and the federal government are trying to prepare for the Tropical Storm which seems to become the second important storm of the season in the Atlantic. Bonnie is now blowing the Dominican Republic, Haiti and Puerto Rico, and is expected to move west to the gulf waters, which are warmer then the rest, so that the tropical storm can develop into a hurricane. The evacuations in the gulf area started, the non-essential workers have already been shipped to the shore and the operations at the spill site, including drilling on the relief wells, were stopped.

BP is better prepared for this storm then they were for Hurricane Alex a few weeks ago, but they have expressed concerns that the storm can do to the cleanup efforts and disappointment for the setback of the drilling efforts that were a few steps away from finally connecting with the damaged well. If the storm is very harsh all ships monitoring the well would have to be evacuated, so no one will know if the cap ceased and oil was leaking again into the gulf waters. The first drill ship that would have to go will be the DDIII, but BP and the government are planning to keep robots on site to monitor the cap.
