She was then carried out of the court in a wheelchair in order to receive medical care. Her shocked opponent Gisela Dulko, who led 5-1 Azarenka also tried to give a help hand by bringing some ice in order to calm the 21-year-old Belarussian player. “I was scared. She went to the floor – I was worried for her. I went to see her, brought her some ice, did whatever I could to help,” Dulko said.
Before she collapsed, Azarenka called her trainer in order to get some treatment to her arm, but also complained of blurry vision. The incident came just before her serve in the seventh game as she hesitated a little bit and the next second to find her on the ground. The crowd was also shocked and the medical team came as just.

Dulko explained in the same time how hard it is for someone to play under such humidity and high temperature. “It’s tough to play out there. It’s really hot, really humid. You sweat so much, sometimes it’s impossible to hold the racket.” Finally, the match ended by abandon. Azarenka reached the second round at the US Open after defeating Romania’s Monica Niculescu in an exhausting three-set match.

Azarenka was tenth-seeded at Flushing Meadows, but unfortunately couldn’t do more in order to prove her position among the quarter finals favorites.
