US troops due to arrive at the Mexican border
The United States National Guard forces will begin moving in August along the border with Mexico. 1,200 Army and Air National Guard soldiers will be there for a year to help the border patrol managing the illegal immigrants that are crossing the border to enter the United States. They will fill the gap while the American Customs and Border Protection will hire more staff to fill in the needed personnel for protection along the southern border with Mexico. After the troops are fully trained they will be placed in California, Arizona, New Mexico and Texas. They will not be involved in the arrests of illegal immigrants, but will assist the border patrol officers in their search for illegal border crossers and smugglers. The troops will be armed, but they will be limited on shooting only to defend themselves.

The deployment is one part of Obama’s border plan of reducing the number of illegal immigrants and smugglers that are crossing the border daily, and that coated 500 million dollars. There is a particular emphasis on the Tucson, Arizona, which is an area preferred by smugglers and immigrants and is known to be the most important point of illegal entry into the United States from Mexico. Arizona will receive 524 troops out of the total forces, Texas will get 250, California will get 224 and New Mexico will receive only 72, all the rest will perform administrative work.11
