Predicting the future is not an easy task, and in fact there have been very few people who have managed to predict it in the proper manner. Most of them have failed. One of the most famous such persons, is Arthur C. Clarke who said in 1945 that one day the satellites will be able to orbit around our planet. He was right, but there were times when he was wrong.

He also stated that by 1994 we will be able to land on Mars, that we will stop using coal mines in 2006, and that the electronic monitoring will stop all the criminality in 2009. I do not know if the last one was a joke or not. There are some people who predict what will not happen, and even if that sounds an easy task, it is not, as people still can make mistakes as well. In 1920, the New York Times made fun of the scientist Robert H. Goddard, for saying that rockets will be able to leave Earth one day. He was right, and they were wrong. On June 17, 1969, right after the Apollo crew headed towards the Moon, the New York Times published a correction of the 1920 article, apologizing for what they said back then. These are some predictions about 2011. You will see what will most likely not happen.

#8
We will not find life in space

We will however be able to find microscopic one if we are lucky enough. It is very likely that we will not find anything by 2011, and even if we do, the discovery will be done much later.

However, most of the people are not necessarily waiting for the discovery of E.T; they would be satisfied even with the smallest life form, because that would be proof that we are not alone in this Universe. Sure, they might not be able to do anything but move, but at least it is life.

#7
We will not evolve

This one is the safest of them all, as we require thousands of years in order to evolve. We have recently adapted our bodies to digest milk sugar, so imagine how much time it would take to develop wings or gills.

Not going to happen, or at least not in the following year. We might improve from a moral point of view, but that is pretty unlikely as well.

#6
The ivory-billed woodpecker will not reappear

In case you did not know, we were the ones who caused its extinction by cutting down the Southern forest. It is extinct nowadays, but people keep on posting videos with it. Of course, you can not actually tell what is in the video, but at least they keep on trying. It seems that the situation with the Sasquatch videos is happening once again.

It is very likely that such videos will keep on reappearing, but the ivory-billed woodpecker will remain extinct. Oh, and we will not discover Yeti, Sasquatch, or Nessie either.

#5
We will not clone Neanderthals

More and more people say that the Neanderthals will be cloned in order to be examined, but that will not happen. Since the first cloning, people have developed all sorts of apocalyptic scenarios, like cloning entire armies which would eventually turn back on us, or that we will get cloned, and we will be replaced by our clones, and so on.

People made lots of fuss when they cloned Dolly, the sheep, but why? It could not harm us at all, and science is not evil as many people want to make it.
