Whole Foods Certification Requirement
Whole Foods is not what one may be thinking of. It is a big company from the United Sates that bursts itself as having introduced in the market the natural foods. At the beginning it had the mission of becoming a grocery store that would sell just good food, wholesome food, not food that was filled with pills and potions. This is the first year that eth Whole Food Company has been on the market. The first Whole Foods Market opened its gates in 1980 with a total number of employees of nineteen people. Anyhow, with time, by mergers and by different acquisition they did, it came to be one of the biggest natural food companies from the United Sates.
Some of the companies that they have acquired good to mention are Wellspring Grocery, Bread & Circus, Mrs. Gooch’s, Fresh Fields, Bread of Life, Amrion, Merchant of Vino, Allegro Coffee, Nature’s Heartland, Food for Thought, Fresh & Wild, Wild Oats Markets and others. What do they sell? Thy actually sell organic food. That is to say, what they actually understand through organic food. At the moment it is the first national certified organic grocer.
Even though the Whole Foods Company has this certification it does not have the capacity of certifying the organic beauty products and say that they are organic as long as they are not. Therefore, as far as the Whole Foods stress, they will refuse accepting any product on their shelves that claims to be organic but has no certification whatsoever or this claim.
They are decided to not allow a producer that says that he has organic products but no certification from the Agricultural Department’s National Organic Program or NSF International, an ANN Arbor, Mich based nonprofit certificate. As far as the state represents, and as far as it has no time whatsoever to deal with this thing, the Whole Foods is taking into their hands to improve the quality of the products from the beauty category.
That is because there are a lot of producers that add a big price due to their organic components of the products they sell. And eventually they do not contain any organic thing.
This is mainly a certain definition of what “organic” means for the beauty care products was not yet realized. They have taken into themselves that with the beginning of June 1st, 2011, no product that says to be organic and that does not have one of the two organic certification, will be removed from the Whole Foods stores and just those that meets the Whole Foods standards will be able to raiment, even though they are not completely organic.
“We’re trying to make it so that our customers don’t have to switch standards and expectations when they cross from grocery into the body care aisle,” explained Joe Dickson, the Whole Foods quality standards coordinator, in a New York Times article. Therefore, one must think it very well in advance, as this retail chain is widely spreaded all over the United States.
