Eco-friendly designers increase demand for organic cotton, as they become more and more aware of the benefits of outfits made from entirely eco friendly and green materials. According to Organic Exchange, a nonprofit commited to expand the use of organically grown fibers, global retail sales of organic cotton products increased from $245 million in 2001 to $583 million in 2005.
What makes retailers and creators turn to the organic cotton is that the traditional one, by far the most used clothing fabric in the world, is injected with liberal amounts of insecticides, herbicides and synthetic fertilizers to grow up. According to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, seven of the top 15 pesticides used on U.S. cotton crops are potential carcinogens, so no wonder that people are starting to be aware of the risks they are taking by buying simple cotton products.

Given such circumstances, no wonder that people are turning to the more organic cultures, and buying more organic cotton products; seen as more of an ecological turn a couple of years ago, it turned into a national and international trend so that even designers, in order to take more care of the environment and their customers, are appealing to organic fabrics for their collections, which, of course, will cost a bit much.

Luckily for us, many designers are using organic cotton in their new clothing lines so there is a full range of option you can look for, from casual clothing to glamorous one, depending on the needs and, of course, the budget. Among the labels which joined the organic cotton club we can remind: Xylem, Blue Canoe, Maggie’s Organic, EcoDragon, NatureVsFuture, Gypsy Rose or Enamore.

Big labels like Levi’s, Victoria’s Secret, Esprit or Timberland are also increasing their offer into the organic cotton industry, so there is really no worry that you won’t find what you’re looking for.

Piece of advice? If you’re up for casual clothes with beautiful fit, head for Victoria’s Secret; they sell loads of models you can chose from at affordable prices, and organic cotton feels so beautifully and soft on skin. Trust my word!11
