Woods Rediscovers the Old Tiger
It’s been ages since Tiger Woods never look the same unbeaten champion. It was these days though when the American seemed to return after a long break in which he refused to collect trophies, to regain everything left to be won. It took also one year for his name to be displayed atop of the leader-board on the PGA Tour. He began though the FedEx Cup playoffs with a 6-under 65 to share the lead with Vaughn Taylor after one round at the Barclays. “It’s exciting to hit the ball flush like this again,” former world champion said.
“It’s something I’ve been missing all year. I haven’t hit it flush. And it felt good to hit the ball and shape it both ways and really hit it through the wind. I’ve hit so many shots this year that haven’t been hit flush enough to get through the wind. But today, I was doing it all day.” Asked if he feels now more relief considering that his divorce with his ex-wife ended, and much prepared to win, this answered: “I can’t really say that’s the case. As far as golf, it was nice to put it together.” Woods played along with Taylor in the morning as the weather didn’t produce any unexpected problems so the play went under good conditions. Both of the two started with a one-shot lead in front of Brian Gay, Ryan Palmer and Adam Scott. “Seeing some good scores this morning made me change my mind,” Scott said. “For him (Woods) to piece things together can’t be too hard. He’s very good,” this also ended. Woods’ 65 was the lowest for him in 46 rounds and Taylor showed delighted to see Tiger’s name on the leader-board again.

“Somewhat, you know? It’s good to see him back up top,” he said. Palmer was also about to come along with the leaders as he a three-putt bogey on the 18th put him at 66. However, other 14 players shot a 67, including here defending champion Heath Slocum, Stewart Cink and Davis Love. Next week’s Deutsche Bank Championship will be joined only by FedEx Cup’s top 100. Woods let to be understood he’s quite ready for the next tour. “I figure if I win, I should be OK,” the American said.
